Degenerate Press
Yule Log Story and Photos by Elvis
12-18-04

In it's 5th year and still running strong, Yule Log jumped through the chimney, broke down a door, and pried off some burglar bars to invade Star Bar for a kick ass time. Yule Log is a consortium of other local bands that gather twice a year to rock the socks off Atlantans at The Star Bar. These fabulous guys do this to have a great time singing Christmas songs in a way no one would ever do it and raise money for Toys for Tots ( a favorite side bonus of the event is to watch those fine young Marines who come for the Toys program get skunk drunk) speaking of which, why do they need a Marine to guard un-opened toys? Hey, isn’t a war going on? Is there an Al Queda plot to break the cellophane wrappers? Do they know something we do not (not that we at Degenerate don’t know everything)

The line-up changes from time to time but this years’ Alternative Santa's was Satan Clause aka Jim Stacy (of Palookaville) serving as lead singer and MC, Hobo Santa aka Richard Davis (of Gargantua), Pink Nightmare/ The UniBunny aka Jim Right (of Asphalt Blast ), Das Santer Klause aka Gary Yoxen (of Rock City Dropouts), Los Santos Diablos aka Chris Dale (of Palookaville), ), Saint Nick aka Paul McQialln (of JJ and the Hustlers)and sporting a bad ass mutton chop was Drunk Elf aka Dave Parker (of Palookaville).

The packed crowd was pumped and ready from already hearing Rock City Dropouts and Satan Clause went through the bar feeding tiny bits of candy from the ass of a little plastic Santa too all the good girls and boys. There was no namby-pamby talk about getting together with family or how this is a season for remembering the loved ones, no this was a gathering to party our asses off and have a good time. They started with a shot of yager and then proceed to assault and bugger every x-mas melody known to man. It was fantastic and one of the funniest things I have ever seen and they did a great job, they played well and rocked my ass off until late in the night. I saw some of the hottest chicks all dolled up rockabilly style and they were grooving and grinding and everyone looked as if they were truly enjoying it. One fan jumped up on stage and shaked her ass for a very receptive crowd. Jett of Rock City even did a duo with Satan Clause. Retro Star and Burlesque Queen Torchy Taboo was found in the crowd by yours truly and when I asked her what brought her to the event, she said “Gary and the guys always do a great job and I try to never miss it.”

This is definably on my list of things to do twice a year, hell I think I might even dress up in a sequined jumpsuit and be Dead Elvis Clause
