Born and raised on Chicago's southside, Stan began singing and dancing at the age of five. When he was eight, Stan taught himself how to play drums and bass guitar, being inspired by the beats of James Brown's music. Stan first heard the music of Jimi Hendrix on Sept. 18,1970. Older brother Calvin brought home the classic (Band of Gypsys) and (Are You Experienced) albums. Ever since then it's been one hell of a music journey... Stan Skibby, has multiple talents including playing drums, keyboards, bass and guitars. He is an excellent vocalist, songwriter, dancer and actor. A natural leader and a true Love Souldier, Stan respects all people. Highly respected within Chicago, Indiana, Illinois and Polands music community. Stan Skibby is a most serious, colorful and versatile artist who is destined for broader recognition. Skibby wants to share his love for music with the world in whole.
Stan's music encounters with great Blues artist such as; Lefty Dizz the guitar Wizz, Albert King, Chuck Berry, Hubert Sumlin, Ko Ko Taylor, Buddy Guy, Phil Guy, John Primer, Otis rush, Magic Slim, Willie Big eye Smith, Lonnie Brooks and son's Ronnie Baker Brooks and Wayne Baker Brooks, Larry Mcray, Al Rowe, Ron Prince, Larry Mcdaniel, Cleopatrix, Toronzo Cannon, Tommy Mccracken, Eddie the chief Clearwater, Big Jimmy, Biscuit Miller, Stan Serna, Bo Didley, Ralph Metcalfe jr., Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven foundation, Shirley Dixon, Billy Branch, Carlos Johnson, Leszek Cichonski, Sugar Blue and many, many others in the Chicago Blues community, and all over the United States furthered strengthened his commitment to Hendrix's music and Skibby's Blues roots. One of Skibby's greatest dreams come true when he played with Hendrix's bassist, Billy Cox at the 1995 Hendrix birthday tribute at Buddy Guy Legends. Skibby has toured Poland six times giving tribute to his fallen hero Jimi Hendrix from year 2000 to 2003. This is his tribute to Hendrix on myspace. Hi Skibby! Vern set up my computer so I was checking out your sight. Just wanted to say hi.Hope to get out and see you play sometime soon..
