A brilliant blue sky on a late December afternoon. The sun descending behind me as this beautiful adult bald eagle flew towards me...illuminated in the warm glow of the long afternoon light.
The bald eagles are a yearly occurrence at this location along the Merrimack River in Amesbury Massachusetts, where they congregate as the river freezes in other areas. The tide keeps the water open here where the eagles fish themselves, feed on ducks and other waterfowl..and where they do a good job of stealing fish from the cormorants and gulls feeding in the area.
