We had a great time at the American Sonex Association gathering this weekend.

86 folks registered to attend and we had 81 for lunch on Saturday. We had a great bunch of aircraft, pilots and builders. Saturday we had a 6 ship photo flight and dawn patrol that got some great Air to Air photos and a lot attention from the locals when we came back over town to land. The group photo was awesome thanks to Woody Gisler my local hanger buddy and photographer. We flew 31 demo rides with 4 aircraft (Chris Williams, Mike McClellan Robert Eley and Dan Villiger), had a great electrical seminar by Rod Dunham that went for 2+ hours and we retro fitted a canopy in a Eldridge Flemmings Sonex from Tupelo Mississippi but it would never have happened without Dick Fisher his tools and all the great builders that pitched in to help. It is much harder to do it with the wings on than when they are off during initial build. A special thanks to all those who helped set up the signs, tables and chairs, and all the tie downs that had to be installed for the fly in.

We had 15 aircraft but not all on the field at the same time. Some came on Friday and left Saturday while others cam on Saturday and left the same day. Saturday supper was the traditional Pulled Pork BBQ with the biggest baked potatos you have ever seen. Lots of door prizes that were supplied for the ladies by Amy Eley and Wicks, while the fellows had some nice prizes from Wicks and Sonex LLC. Sunday morning broke just a clear and bright as Friday and Saturday had with the temps in the mid 70's for all 3 days. I think that most folks had a good time. The canopy install will be on YouTube when we get it edited down in "post" production. (I love that tech talk")

Thanks to Pam and Will Ouellette, Jane and Rod Dunham and Amy and Robert Eley, Tony Forry, and Vaughn Brengman, Vaughn beat me to the airport on Thursday morning and worked all weekend helping where he was needed. I have never been around a nicer bunch of folks than the folks who came to attend at one of the gatherings over the past 5 years As the folks know that were at Saturday's supper I announced that this was the last ASA that I was going to be able to organize and the only way this fly in will continue is for someone with a younger body to take over, so we shall see if there is enough interest to have it continue .
