Message from Sofia Solomennikova
Sofia Solomennikova MA
Bio:
Born in Riga, Latvia, in 1983. At the age of 5 moved to Volgograd, Russia - the hero city more known under the old name of Stalingrad.
Sofia has always been attracted by languages and various cultures, so studied and graduated from the Volgograd State University in 2005 as a professional interpreter/linguist. Then in 2010 obtained her MA degree.
She is well known as a Radio DJ at the local radio, New Wave. Where since May 2008, she has worked under the professional name of Sofia Solntseva.
Being an active member of the International Photographic Community of Pbase since 2006, she owes a lot of her Photographic Skills to the generous assistance of fellow Pbasers.
As a Freelance Photographer, Sofia has had photographs published in the local periodicals. She has held four expositions at the New Wave radio, which were noted in the Royal Photographic Society Journal, UK, May 2009, Vol. 149, Number 4.
In October 2010, she had her work published in the French photo-book "Russie Eternelle" dedicated to the year of Russia in France.
In December 2010, Sofia published her first photo-book on Blurb.com, featuring the images of Volgograd's nature on 40 pages of the book.
On February 18th 2011 in Argentina, the city of Quilmes, opened the exposition "Rivers, the Veins of the World", with 26 photographers from 21 countries participating in the event. Sofia's photograph of the River Volga represented Russia. The exposition will last until 23th of March and then will move to other cities of Argentina.
