An unsettling event followed the fire within days.
Apparently it's not uncommon for thieves to break into
a home following a disaster. When looters discovered
the doors' heavy locks still held, they tore open boarded
windows to gain entry. Because of dangerous weaknesses
in the floor, they were lucky they didn't lose their lives for trinkets.
