Telescope Mountain at Bad Water : Death Valley

Death Valley National Park, Bad Water

Lake Manley, located at the lowest part of Death Valley, is generally pretty close to dry but not this year. In the early morning, I went to see the Sun Rise at Bad Water and witness the Alpine Glow lighting the top of the snow covered 11,000+ foot Telescope Peak within the Panamint Mountain Range. While I have to admit it was very pretty, I liked this more subdued light of about 15 minutes before sunrise. I tend to not do low contrast subjects, but I liked it this time.

Like the previous panorama, this is a 4X1 panoramic stitch and not my preferred 3X1 but the scene was simply SO wide, it really needed a bit wider aspect ratio.

Bad Water is interesting in that when you look East and Up, 280+ feet in the air is a huge sign with 5 foot letters that says "Sea Level". It is the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere.
