Winder 2005 Steven Noyes

Bryce Morning : Bryce

Bryce NP, Utah

This shot was taken in sever conditions (at least I thought so). It was very early and quite cold with the thermometer sitting at a bit bellow -10 degrees F. The snow was warmed slightly by the glow of the morning sun about 20 minutes before sun rise. Taken at Sunrise point at the top of the rim in Bryce National Park, this shot shows the fresh 1 foot of new snow that fell the previous night and the gentle patterns formed by the wind. A .7 stop digital Graduated ND filter was used to darken the sky a bit.

Absolutly superb image. The composition, colors are all perfect. The sharpening is also very well done. Bryce Canyon is trully a magical place in winter with the white snow contrasting with the pink rock. Voted.

Great color on the snow and the sky! Amazing how you captured the subtle contrasts in the snow.

Come back anytime. BTW. Looked at your work and it is very very good. Spent some time there myself.

Thanks. I was very happy that the ripple showed up as well as they did. I had some concern that the contrast might wash them out but they showed up nicely.
