I am really pleased with the optics on the scopes but the thick spider vanes caused thick bloated square stars, so something needed to be done. I ordered a spider from Vixen Optics, which was reasonable and I was originally going to cut out the vanes and replace them with thin stainless steel or carbon fiber. Then it dawned on me one day, why not machine them thinner! So that is what was done and I am quite pleased with the results.
I have a VC200L and I've ordered a QSI 583wsg. Could you please let me know where you had spider machined and any post machining collimation issues. The quick test image looks terrific.....
The thick spiders were my only reservation on the Vixen--since Moonlight is now coming out with VC200L specific focuser.
