An interesting note about this location is that it was the site of the Richelieu Apartments which became infamous for a hurricane party during Hurricane Camille in 1969 when 25 persons were supposed to have died. Several years ago, the story was researched and debunked by Kat Bergeron, a special features reporter for the Sun Herald newspaper, but the legend lives on. Following Camille, the site sat vacant more than 25 years until the late 90s when this small shopping center was built.
