John, This is a Parker Shotgun manufactured in 1938 after Remington took over Parker a few years before. Looks like it started life as a plain Jane VHE model. At some point in its life it was upgraded to an A-1 Special or something along those lines. Who did the work I don't know or when it was done I don't knoe. There are some letter codes stamped in the barrels there that indicate the gun went back to Remington for work twice during the 1940s. We don't know what was done on those return trips. It costs a little money to have the research done. This one is coming home to my collection and I'm going to spend a little money and time doing further research.

I could never afford a real built by Parker or Remington A1-Special ... they can cost $50 to 250K. This look-alike A1-Special I can afford.
