One very cool image , brilliant

This one looks a little odd to me too. i think if we use light blue here with a more cheerful lighting would be much better. :)
but anyways, a photo with Wanda inside would never be bad.

If you can't tell if it was Photoshopped I guess I should answer "no" ;^)

I did very minor work on this. I removed a couple of blemishes, cropped a little, downsized and did a little sharpening to make up for what was lost in the resize. That was about it.

Bill, did you do any PS on this photo?

Hate to disagree with the model, but I do like this one. For me, it's an intellectual challenge, because I'm not sure what it is or exactly why I like it. At first glance, it could be Muslim dress. Or, simply the use of fabric as a frame. But then, what is it framing? It certainly hilites the eyes. As for the "flawless, classically beautiful face" you refer to, I'm not going to get into flattery - enough has been said about your face by others. Personally, I prefer a face with character. One contributor to Pbase who goes by the name "m warno" has a black and white pic of his mother posted. The woman must be close to 70, she is a captivating portrait. The lady's skin is not perfect, but the photo is. Wanda, you could be doing this modelling thing for a long time.

I hate to say anything negative about your work. I think for me it's the wisps of hair and the focus on the nose but I agree with Wanda re: unconfortable. Color, light, eyes, great but there is something.

I agree with Steve,

This one doesn't work for ME either! I get a very uncomfortable feel when I look at it. Too much face and too close for MY likings! The material was hard to work with, but then that's what happens when you use a bathrobe as a prop! (grin) And I feel like a pose like this one is better suited for a woman with a flawless, classicly beautiful face. Like the lady who was bald in that one Star Trek movie! Now SHE was easy on the eyes! Anyway, not My favorite picture but Bill likes to experiment and I try to be a willing (yet reluctant at times) guinea pig.

It works just fine for me. I like the deep depth of field, for one, and the fact that you haven't tried to smooth away evidence of make-up: it's there, you can see it, but it seems normal rather than airbrushed to unrealistic perfection. Wanda's expression is great, here.

Bill, I always love your photos and I come here every day to check but (you knew there was a but coming ), for some reason this one doesn't work for me. I cannot decide if it is that the lighting is too harsh or that the material looks unnatural around Wanda's face. I think it is the material and a looser draping effect around the neck that shows Wanda's chin and neck would be better.

Beautiful, lovely eyes. -BJ

Blue was always my favorite color . . . deep sigh . . . and now, even more so!!! Thanks, you two, for a lovely shot!

This is e beautifull picture of a free American woman.
though this pose always reminds me about the Afghanistan girl
as pictured by National Geographic.

Thanks again for your wonderfull photo - graphics !

Bill - and Wanda - thank you! Heck, if I knew you took requests I would have started a long time ago! I posted a thank-you earlier, but for some reason it didn't show; either way, I appreciate both of your efforts and I'll be sure to ask more often now! With any luck, I can reciprocate with a shot of a wolf or two after my shoot tomorrow. Take care.

If it was such a "snow day" why is Wanda so tan? Only kidding, nice balance of color.
Guest 22-Mar-2006 03:41
Wonderful work. Blue period?
John Storjohann 22-Mar-2006 02:53
VERY nice...and thank you, Bill (and Wanda!). Now I feel obligated to make a suggestion now and then (if only to see if you'll take more requests!). Take care, and thanks for the shot - I'll see if I can reciprocate with a nice one a wolf tomorrow.

Keep chasing the light!

Oh, are you taking requests? Hmmm? I think I'll wait for summer... :-) Great shot!

A study in blue. Eyes and cloth. Actually makes the lipstick more of the focus. Well done.
