Wanda, I love, love, LOVE this photo! The contrasting shapes of the thin, drab colored verticals of the cattail stalks with the rounded, colorful blackbird. The thin, hard edged stalks against the fluffy pods. The detail of the face, legs and claws. The fuzzed-out background that emphasizes the foreground more. The lighting! This is just a superb photograph.

Willy,

wishing you safe travels. I hope you have the chance to photograph something real exciting to make hauling your tripod with you worthwhile. (warm smile)

Wanda... I LOVE the colors and crispness of this picture... I am traveling to western New Mexico (from Michigan) next week... and you've inspired me to pack my tripod.... congrats on all your work! :)

Ben,

the images of My yellowheaded black birds are sharp because I used a tripod! One of the few times I have actually bothered to get out the tripod. As you can see, using a tripod makes a HUGE difference! Now I just need to stop being lazy and use the tripod more often. Most of My other photos were taken "hand held" and therefore not near as sharp!

Great shot!
Although it does seem slightly over-sharpened.

Wow -- love the DOF. I didn't know there was any such thing as a yellow-headed blackbird (sounds a little oxymoronic).

Great shot Wanda, I like this shot better than the one Bill posted, but don't tell him that, I don't want to hurt his feelings.

Bingo Wanda! This one is "out of the park." Color, detail, and comp are terrific.
And the way you caught the bird hanging onto the willows adds interest and a bit of tension.
