Wanda 3D IMAGE 12_17_04.jpg

3D IMAGE

To view this image you will need to cross your eyes a little. When viewed properly the image in the middle will appear very 3D.

Here is how:
1. Sit at your normal distance.
2. Slowly cross your eyes. You will see a double image.
3. Continue to cross until the middle two images overlap and turn into one in the middle.
4. Adjust focus on middle image, keeping the two images overlapped

With a little practice it will pop right into focus.

This was just something fun we are trying out. This is nothing more than a snap shot but it did turn out interesting.

Here is a B&W version which was the original plan http://www.pbase.com/slowpokebill/image/37600579

other sizes: small medium large original auto

The most difficult part about posing for this image was that I had to stand still AND keep the exact same expression on My face while Bill moved the camera a bit and snapped another shot. The images are not exactly alike, but close enough.

Hello William,
I was practicing focusing on the middle image and with a little practice it just popped into focus. But my eye were under continual strain. So I placed both my hands just in front of my eyes and blocked the view of the two outer images. The center, 3d, image was now the only image in view and there was no eye strain. Give it a try and see what you think.

Very cool! It would appear that you physically moved the camera to the side and re-shot from a different position/perspective. Awesome effect - brilliant!

This is soooo awsome! I would love to learn how this is done.

Wow, until I tried the finger thing I was just getting dizzy. (that could just be from looking at Wanda) But when I got it focused I was amazed. The depth is just so cool.

Bill how cool, I shot tons of 3d shots in the early 80's with a Realist and Revere.
Most of the "old guys" at the camera club, 70+ years, shot lots of 3d. Their stuff is out of this world. I'd love to see 3d make a come back, and yes a slide bar that you can calabrate for different lenses can be made very easily. Great shot.!!

You folks are SO imaginative! Way to go!

Great shot! I am accustomed to looking at scientific stereo images, but couldn't quite bring this one together. I switched to the medium size and the stereo effect snapped in immediately (without the splitting headache I was having trying with the full size image).

Keep the great POTD shots coming!

I just tried that moving finger thing, now I feel sick and dizzy! Two Wanda's is too much to take in :-)

OH MY! My eyes! It works! Awesome job!

Roger, try hold your finger about a foot out from your face. Stare at it and move it back and forth paying a little attention to the image when it looks like three lower your finger and refocus on the middle image.

Am I doing something wrong? It looks to me like the images are reversed-the one on the left should be on the right. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. When I learned to "free view" stereo images, the idea was to focus your eyes in the distance, even though the photo was up close. Doing that does not cause eye strain. That's how I'm looking at it, so maybe that's why I'm seeing it backward.

Cool, even though I never can get these!
My son has 3 images on his pbase site.

Good Lord, ... it worked! Now I have a bloody nose though and my ears are ringing. Who should my attorneys contact? Very cool effect! I'll have to try one and watch my wife sit cross-eyed! LOL!
Guest 18-Dec-2004 01:37
wow very cool! i love it! :)
Wm. Bates18-Dec-2004 00:45
Peter it was just a quick shift of the camera for the second image. I'm tempted to find some sort of slider bar to put on the tripod. This was kind of fun to try.
Guest 18-Dec-2004 00:42
For next weird wacky Wednesday, you should shoot Wanda looking at this crosseyed! LOL!! Seriously, thanks for the effort here, it was FUN!
Peter Hollinger18-Dec-2004 00:41
Great choice of subject for this 3D treatment! Lots of nice sharp layers. Did you use two cameras or move one and reshoot? Wanda's pose is a perfect match if it's really two shots.
Wm. Bates18-Dec-2004 00:32
Jeanne, yes the are slightly crossed and it does cause a little eye strain after awhile. It was so cool to do this image but my eyes are going buggy.
Guest 18-Dec-2004 00:27
OK, I have to stop...I'm getting a headache! LMAO!!!!
Guest 18-Dec-2004 00:21
OK, I have a question...when it comes into focus, and I can view it 3D, are my eyes still crossed??? OMG!!!
Guest 18-Dec-2004 00:20
I feel so weird sitting here staring at this!!!
Guest 18-Dec-2004 00:19
OMG OMG OMG! It TOTALLY worked!!!!! That is WAY cool!!!! 3d Wanda!
