The following images were taken at a re-enactment of the crucial 1864 Battle of Cedar Creek between the armies of Confederate Lieut. General Jubal A. Early and Union Maj. General Philip H. Sheridan during the American Civil War. Both the battle and its re-enactment took place in a field across the Belle Grove Plantation near Middletown, Virginia.

The black-and-white photos displayed on Page 1 were originally shot in color with Canon's new EOS 40D digital camera and processed in Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe Photoshop to emulate Kodak's Tri-X Pan silver-based monochrome film.
