Each November BURP focuses on the brewing, tasting, and judging of traditional cask-conditioned (naturally carbonated) British style ales dispensed with a traditional beer engine rather than dispensed with carbon dioxide. These ales are also known as "real ales" to distinguish them from modern mass-produced British ales which are artificially carbonated and dispensed using CO2. (Photos are from the 2003 and 2004 Real Ale Festival.)
