Brewers United for Real Potables (BURP) is an internationally known homebrewers club based in the Washington, DC area and is one of the largest and oldest clubs of its kind in the USA. BURP's focus is the art and craft of making and appreciating traditional and creative ales, lagers, ciders, meads, wines, and sodas.

BURP has over 300 members, with an active core of between 50 and 75 who attend our monthly meetings, brew on a regular basis, and organize and participate in local and regional homebrewing competitions. While most BURPers live and work in Maryland, Nothern Virginia, and Washington, some members reside as far away as Japan and Scotland and others make trips to our monthly meetings from as far north as Pittsburgh, PA and as far south as the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

BURPers also come from all occupations and walks of life: The BURP family includes men and women, single and married, many with kids. BURPers are scientists, lawyers, diplomats, writers, artists, musicians, engineers, mechanics, computer techies, college professors, and military personnel.

The pictures in this gallery represent a typical monthly BURP meeting, usually hosted by fellow BURP members at their homes. Each BURP meeting includes a specific style competition and judging (stouts, pale ales, oktoberfests, weizens, ciders, etc.) for which a variety of prizes are awarded; a raffle for microbrew- and brewing-related prizes; a lot of excellent libations and food (BURPers are also top-notch cooks); and great conversation and fun with the friendliest people anywhere.
