The North Back Fill is a mirror project to the South Back fill within the refinery, it is used to pump back fill material into the mine to fill the voids left by mining. The structure was designed as a bolt together structure, but under BG Standards every thing had to be welded. Lacking a crane to lift the ladder assembly , they just picked up and held in place whilst the Welder tack welded all the supports, have way through the job they decided to support it from the other side by rope. When we arrived on site they were in the middle of welding it up and very proud of what they had done, not sitting around waiting for the crane just got the job done.
The supervisors know what they have to do, just don't know basic rigging or scaffolding which makes things difficult, but over come with human power.
