Max Ebb at Alcatraz 14:45 hrs, 2.4 knots.

The camera went to my lovely companion and she took essentially all the pictures. I avoided collisions, groundings, scuttling the boat, etc., served finger sandwiches, hot beverages.

Race To The Finish: First out of Raccoon Straits was "Serenity", Seawind 1160, followed by an Express 27 and "Ditzy", Alerion Express 28, taking diverging paths to the finish. Legions of spinnakers raced through the straits, fighting ebb tide, with the fog behind them rolling thickly over the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito hills. Boats went right and left of rhumbline from Raccoon Straits, making decisions on wind patterns, the wind shadow of Tiburon and Angel Island and crossing the ebb tide going to Richmond.

Finish Pictures: "Comfortably Mumm" finished first. The multihulls "Tuki", Formula 40, and "Lil' Bear", Corsair 31, crossed gybes near the finish to determine second place; one or two boatlengths separated the Corsair 31 and Formula 40 finishes. Foto boat was stuck on the RC boat side of the line with packs of boats finishing, gybing and heading to the Richmond YC.
