My neighbors Anita & Phil highly recommended that Bill & I check out Swan Island Dahlias in Canby, Oregon for their big open-house on Labor Day Weekend. What a treat it was, with 10-acres of blooming flowers, demonstrations, floral arrangements, live music and a wine-o-bago to boot! I shot my 100mm macro, but for grins tried my hand using Lightroom's black and white conversion. Anyone can make flowers look gorgeous in color, but working in black and white really requires a different mindset. It's all about managing contrast to pull out the detail and textures that get drowned out by color. Lightroom's B&W versatility is amazing....in addition to the normal exposure, shadow & highlights control, you can individually dial-up or down each color hue independent of one another.
