The Palude di San Genuario Natural Reserve is part of the larger Parco fluviale del Po e dell’Orba, a regional Protected Area and it’s an impor tant wetland with spring waters, entirely surrounded by rice fields. Declared SCI (Site of Community Impor tance) and SPA (Special Protection Areas), this reserve is one of the few places where Bittern, Little Bittern, Marsh Harrier Little Crake and Purple Heron nest side by side.
