Every day at this time of the year we see hundreds of birds flying over or not far away
from our house. They leave Martin Mere bird reserve (about a mile away) and go to some fields about half a mile away. They return to Martin Mere in the late afternoon where they are fed.
I thought they were geese but according to the local paper, they are some of the 2400 swans
that have taken up residence at Martin Mere. They are difficult to photograph because when
the air is black with them they are a bit far off and also I never have my camera handy when they fly over.
