The final visit of HMS Liverpool to Liverpool.
The seventh, and current HMS Liverpool (D92) is the
tenth of fourteen Type 42 destroyers. She was built
by Cammell Laird in Birkenhead and launched on the
25 September in 1980 by Lady Strathcona, wife of the
then Minister of State for Defence.
She is being de-commissioned in 2012 and as it seems
that the Navy are not going to name any future ships after
a town or city, this is the final HMS Liverpool.
