This is old Ricco. Old, because he was the first Ricco. We've had other Riccos after him. He was an amazing cat and had quite a few amazing adventures during his life. My sister got him as an older kitten when we lived in Washington State. He came with us when we moved to Arizona in 1967. This is the cat that was the first hero of our pets that I knew. When I was very little there was a time when our other cat, Tuffy had been missing for some days. One day me and my sister were outside playing and Ricco came up to us. He'd meow then walk or trot away and come back. He kept doing this and we figured out he wanted us to follow him--this is true! We told our parents and they followed Ricco. He actually led them to the other cat, Tuffy. Tuffy was caught in a leg hold trap--the reason he'd been missing. Our parents took Tuffy to the vet and his leg was fixed. He had a pin in his leg the rest of his life. Ricco was a hero--he saved Tuffy's life.
