Boyce Thompson Arboretum 2.13 inches of rain on July 27, 2006

During the daylight hours of the morning of July 27, 2006 the Arboretum received 2.13 inches of rain. Because of the Peachville Fire that burned the headwaters region of Silver King Wash last year there was a quick accumulation of Ashy-smelling, blackish-gray, silt-filled runoff in Silver King Wash. The Peachville Fire also burned in the headwaters region of Queen Creek and it rapidly filled with fast moving water, but didn't raise to the water level it reached last year in February. Back in the canyon, east of the suspension bridge, runoff from the rocky hillside washed out the main trail on the very west end of the catwalk where Arboretum Staff had been working on making a footing for a wall to repair damage done by the flood last year in February.

After 1.23 More inches of Rain the Night of July 28, the Main Trail Was Damaged Even More On Monday July 31, BTA Staff did a great job fixing up the washed-out part of the main trail by the catwalk On July 31, BTA Staff also repaired the wall holding the bank.
