African Sumac Deformed New Growth

June 2013. African Sumac in Superior, AZ that has been dong well since we moved here in August 2010. It did suffer from freeze damage in 2010/2011 and some branches died here and there. Earlier this year in March we had some high winds that really whipped the poor tree and leaves were damaged. Now we have noticed odd misshapen new leaf growth. The leaves look curled and stuck together. It is loosing a lot of leaves also, more than usual it seems. We do give it deep watering occasionally, in summer once or twice a month. I work at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, there are quite a few African Sumac there and none of them are having this problem.
