When I woke up about 4:15am on Monday morning, Oct.9th, a number of my neighbors were standing outside in the dark street looking up at the sky to the north. I knew right away that this was not going to be good.

In 1981 I had the choice of making a life in Santa Rosa or Sarasota, FL, I picked Florida, worked out better for me but I know some old friends there probably lost everything. Many of the gay men I worked with on Union Street SF are also gone.
