Seattle is a lovely city. We visited downtown today and saw the underground. This city had some real sewer problems in it's early days with the ocean tide and heavy sewer from above. Thank God some carpentry type boiled over some glue and caught the lower city on fire. The rehab raised the lower city area some 8 to 20 feet by filling the streets with dirt from the hills and buildings that had been rebuilt had to use ladders to get down to the old street level. The city built walls about ten feet in the street in front of these buildings which made for the underground street fronts. To get across the street ladders were placed on each corner street.
