Vík í Mýrdal is the southern most village in Iceland. It lies just by the sea but has no harbour. The village is protected from the sea by a sand beach, but lately the beach has been getting smaller so it looks like so measures will have to be made to save the village and better sooner then later.
In the background are the Reynisdrangar which are three black basalt columns, the hightest one reaching around 66 meters. Legend has it that the rocks are three trolls, caught out too late and frozen by the early morning sunlight.
