Portraits can be formal or informal. Often times they may be contrived with multiple props and extensive lighting. But to my mind, I simply want to remember people as they celebrate what is meaningful in life.

As we go through the various stages of life from birth to old age, I truly believe that deep down inside, each of us would like to have a portrait to commemorate who we are at that stage in life. I have attempted to photograph family and friends with that in mind.

One of my family once said, "as much as we grumble about Fay and her camera, it is so great to look back and see how young and thin we were!" I have tried to use available light to accentuate the portraits when possible.

As photographers, we never know how precious a portrait may be to a family in years to come.

I thank each of these people for giving me the opportunity to photograph them and for their patience, and for allowing me to post their photos on this site.
