I heard a rhythmic noise coming from around the corner. At first it sounded like horses' hooves on the cobblestone street, but to my surprise, it was the tap, tap, tap, of the hammers as these men sculpted forms out of the rock. Note... they do not wear any protective gear such as goggles, masks or ear plugs. The noise is constant as they work, and the workmanship is superb.
