Lake District Sunbeams - What Digital Camera Magazine Publications

March 2008 Update.
Several of these shots are featured in the March 2008 edition of What Digital Camera magazine.

The following photographs are the result of being at the right place at the right time.
The location is Loughrigg, Rydal in the Southern region of the Lake District.
Date 24th October 2007.

Time on shoot - 6:00 am rise to be up, out and ready! Usual Lakeside camping out.
This was prior to a late finish in the early hours of the same morning
after doing the 'Castlerigg Stone Circle at Midnight' shoot. (www.pbase.com/shuk1in12x/castlerigg)

An inverted cold cloud layer created this ideal setting to make some magnificent sunbeams as the Autumn sun rose and gained strength to warm the frosty earth.
The moment was magical and I did my best to capture the dramatic effects as it unfolded before me.
The Lake District never fails to amaze those who visit, no matter what the weather, there's always something truly spectacular to see !

My favourite place to chill out, forget everything and just focus on the scenery.

Steve, what can I say that has not already been said by everyone else...? It takes vision and thought to achieve this level of craft. This collection of images portrays something that most people only get to see if and when they are on location at the right time. You have immortalised these places and what can be seen if one is fortunate enough. We photograph what we love, and love what we photograph. i hope you are remembered among those who have captured the spirit of the Cumbrian landscape and help us all to remember the light instead of the rain.

My goodness. I didn't try commenting on individual shots. I would have run out of words too quickly. More like beautiful paintings than mere photographs. You are setting a new HDR standard IMHO.

You acknowledge the luck factor of having the good fortune to be in the right place when light and inspiration come together - - very true indeed. But it also takes a good eye with an innate sense to capture a moment like this into pixels. These are masterful captures which capture and convey the place in vivid detail when light turns magical .
