Lake Chapala water depth has been increasing sharply during the months of September and October 2003. Much of the wide areas of dry sand along the shores are gone, covered by water from recent rains. These pictures, taken Sunday, September 28, 2003, are an attempt to show the dramatic water level change and some of the activities of tourists at the waters edge along the north shore of the lake, including areas adjacent to Ajijic and Chapala. 10/4/03

Great pictures, My family is from Chapala and just by looking at these pictures it put my hopes up to go for a nice vacation. I was there just two years ago and Lake Chapala did not compare to what it is now.

Great photos! Thank you so much for sharing with us. There's a good looking paint horse in the bottom left corner. I'm assuming that he's a rental since his saddle doesn't fit the rider. Do you know who owns him?
Thanks again,
Kip
