Ruby Throated Hummingbird and Nest May 2007 & July/Aug '05

May, 2007 - another nest has been discovered at Norfolk Botanical Garden however this one is about 40' up in a tree - extremely hard for me to get pics so excuse the quality!

July/Aug '05 This nest was discovered at Norfolk Botanical Gardens - and a big Thank You to Scott T. who knows a few of us that appreciate nature and love to photograph it. I watched and photographed the nest starting a day after the first egg hatched. Unfortunately, the 2nd egg never did.

And if seeing a nest isn't thrilling enough, a few of us actually saw the baby fledge from the nest the evening of Aug. 10th - 22 days old.

Start at the bottom of the page & move up for the progress of this wee bird - double click on a picture to see the larger view.Not all pictures are perfect but I just couldn't resist some of them. After it fledged, we put a quarter in the nest to give a sense of just how small the nest is.
