The point of view of a stalker came to my mind the first time I saw this photograph and I still have that impression. When I think that you were the stalker...

Moody and intriguing. Brilliantly composed, leading our eyes and our mind, from the dark to the light. Agree with Ray, I also felt as if I was there, running my fingers across the wall, as I explored the journey with you...

Too lazy to read all comments (I'm in a break, after all ;-))
I'll just say I find this beautiful, truly beautiful.
And the blur adds.

I like the optimism of this image since it is not necessarily burdened with irony.

Phil's analysis is perfect and I think its a very good photo. My question is, how do you focus with so little light?
Craig Persel18-Jan-2007 00:07
Into the light ... and beyond.

I have the feeling we are seeing the beginning of a journey - just as they set off through the dark and head toward their goal (the light).. really such an excellent photo, Kal..

I love the blur here, Kal. It gives the image a transitory feeling -- a moment in time that is hardly noticed. But you instinctively noticed the significance of both moment and setting, and your slow shutter speed gives it the rough feel of a impressionistic painting. There are some who would be quick to criticize the blur here -- technophobes whose formulatic approach to photography would insist that you should use a tripod in such a dark place. (It must have been very dark for a 1/8th of second exposure at ISO 1600!) If you had used a tripod, this would have been a clear, sharply descriptive picture, lacking in both feeling and meaning.
