Yes. This self portrait reflects the depth of compassion I see in your work and words, Kal.

I love many of the comments you received on this picture. It is POWERFUL and LAYERED with emotion. It reminds me of a quote I have on my PAD gallery

~ The best photographs show not just what the photographer saw, but what he or she felt. ~ Michael Frye ~

Feelings are certainly conveyed in this image and the viewer takes time to ponder your emotions and their own in relationship to photographic ars. TFS--Rene

Amazing picture , for me so dam simple yet so powerful , and yes sinister. You have made a huge impact ,with somthing everyone else would not have spotted. Just my opinion.

Crown of thorns. That is a good way of expressing how this picture made me feel. It would be a good poster concept to represent those who practice photography as a blood sport, offering viewers a vicarious thrill by shooting the suffering and deaths of others.

Yes Phil, I had a look at your gallery and I thought I would give it a try. I think officially my first "graffitti" picture. As to the expression, it is the second. When I am out, I see abandonment, dereliction, and poverty. I saw this and thought I could express two ideas. The first was the suffering I feel (something Alem aludes to with his comment on my work and sensitivity). The drips on the wall brought to mind the blood on a forehead resulting from a wreath of thorns. The second was the Self Portrait element. Enough to say something about my art, but enough abstraction to trigger the imagination.

I see you've been studying my new gallery on walls, Kal. This is an epic statement. A photographer out for blood? Or how you feel after dealing with the brutalities of a huge city. Abstract, incongruous, humane and expressive.

great, man.
I second Ana. Mundane can be fantastic. This is the way I try to approach photography, as you are aware. Simple subjects can give out great emotions.
This is the case. Excellent SP which tells a lot about you, your work and your sensitivity. Bravo, really.

This one almost looks like a shot done in photoshop using different layers to express the idea... I find it quite fantastic how that piece of paint on the wall gave you the idea for this composition :)
A very simple aproach that worked so well, only because you definitely saw beyond what we usually see.
Congratulations Kal.
