Leaving with Goosies Babies_2.jpg

I should explain; Goosie and Lucy had 4 babies. This huge goose that had the 7 babies I photographed ended up taking Goosie and Lucy's goslings. Goosie fought with the big goose for 2 or 3 days, trying to get his babies back. He was no match for the bigger goose and finally he gave it up. He and Lucy are just hanging around the pond now. I feel so sorry for them both. I guess this is not an uncommon thing to happen. Geese normall have no more than 6 goslings so, when you see a pair of geese with 12 or more goslings there is a very good chance they aren't all theirs. I just hope it doesn't make Goosie and Lucy nest somewhere else next year. If I could have I would have taken 4 babies away from that pair of geese and gave them to Goosie and Lucy.
