The Capital City of Tunis

Tunis is the capital of Tunisia, with a population of approximately 700,000 people. It is the commercial center of Tunisia and home to many palaces, mosques and fountains in the city's medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also home of the Bardo Museum, Tunisia's national museum of archeology where there is a collection of ancient roman and Byzantine mosaics. It is also the site of ancient Carthage where Hannibal launched his famous but doomed campaign against Rome in the Second Punic War. It is also the home of the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial, the final resting place of 2,841 American military killed in WW II.
