Lake Bled is a beautiful lake about an hour north of Ljubljana, surrounded by the Julian Alps. Bled Castle sits on a precipice high above the lake, and a little island sits toward one end of the lake, with a church dating back to the 17th century.
The lake is also well known among rowers because it has very good conditions for the sport. It hosted the World Rowing Championships in 1966, 1979, 1989 and 2011.
