For the first part of the trip, we left Ushuaia, Argentina, crossed the Drake Passage, and then made a series of landings at different places along the Antarctic Peninsula and the mainland. Two unexpected highlights of the trip included crossing the Antarctic Circle, and a deep penetration into the Antarctic Sound at the northern end of the Peninsula (until blocked by icebergs).
