Highlights of my incursions into the Central Kingdom. In 2006 I went to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou. In May 2007 I revisited Shanghai and Suzhou, as well as heading inland to Nanjing, and in October I finally made it to Beijing. Autumn 2008, Yunnan province and a few days in Shanghai, with a pilgrimage to the Lu Xun memorial park. Autumn 2009 took me to Huangshan in Anhui province. Xian, Beijing, Chengdu, Anhui province and Jiuzhaigou and a sunny afternoon in Shanghai.
Spring 2010 and Guanxi province's tourist mecca Guilin and Yangshuo beckoned. Unfortunately the rainy season stopped me getting any "National Geographic " shots.
November 2010 and for the first time, H came along too. I showed her the highlights of Shanghai and Suzhou before slipping off by myself to heavily polluted Shanxi province where the ancient town of Pingyao beckoned.
2012 - a stopover in Shanghai and two days in Suzhou, to explore the Old Town on foot.
2013 - several days in Shanghai then upcountry to Anhui province to visit the well known World Heritage listed historic villages of Hongcun and Cidi, as well as some equally interesting lesser known ones.
2014 - I explored the Northeast with my son, travelling south from Harbin though Changchun, Shenyang, Dandong, and finally Dalian
2017 - Back for the first time with elder son to see Shanghai. A very wet and miserable time, but we still got out and about.
