Jeanneau 44DS, Sausalito, Dec 14 2018
The day started with a heavy rain, only to clear up into completely blue sky early afternoon. In the evening we were back in the rain, with dark gray skies. Of all the 23 years of sailing on the Bay, which I have in my memory, this was the most balanced crew. Everybody aboard showed passion for sailing and skill. Organizer of the sail was Ken. He was a great skipper. We have had a perfect mix of docking, mooring exercise and the typical sail in a "no particular direction for no particular reason." The Bay was virtually empty. We stopped on the Angel Island and were almost alone in the Ayala Cove. Even the restaurant there was shut down for the month of Nov/Dec, except for the weekend. The Museum was also closed. Considering that weekday sails are usually less pricey, and that we have the "seasonal discounts" now, the charter was stunningly expensive. Maybe this also contributed to the fact that fleet of the Club was dormant on this day, with the exception of two boats. |
