Documentary of a quite memorable sail from the newly open location of the Club Nautique
on the Balboa Island, Newport Beach, CA to Avalon, Catalina Island.
The office of the Club Nautique was at that time located on a swimming boat, what we all
found very fascinating. Later the office was transferred to a more permanent location
close to the Lido Island at the Via Oporto, but a few yachts of Club Nautique continued
to be docked on the same pier next to the Balboa Bridge.
With the passage of time many things have changed! Club Nautique closed its locations in Southern California around 2003-2004, and was only loosely associated with Sea Time, a new club operating in the Newport Bay. Sea Time removed all yachts from the pier at the Balboa Bridge and focused on only one location, close to the former office of Club Nautique in the Lido Marina Village, Via Oporto. By the end of 2005 Sea Time itself closed its doors as well! << Marina del Rey to Catalina Harbor, 4th of July 2000 | Next: "Thanksgiving in Avalon, Nov 2002" >> |
