Airlie is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands, and many people go on sailing boats to experience them. I went on one five years ago when I was here, and fancied something different this time around, so went on a scenic flight over the islands and out to the reef.

I am currently still plagued with ear infections, though my perforated eardrum has healed, and am still unable to dive, so it was especially nice to get such a totally different perspective on the reef.

Before returning back to the mainland, I was dropped off on exclusive Hayman Island, to get a little glimpse of how the other half live. Very nice, very plush...but so not me! Just as well really!
