14 January 2010
I was saddened today to go see window workmen cutting down the trees at the end of the garden. The trees grow on the other side of my rear wall, and are being chopped down and shredded on council orders. Soon the avenue of trees that the squirrels use to move safely from one garden to the next will be gone. The shelter for so many birds will have disappeared. The fir tree behind my neighbours garden went today the blackbirds loved that tree, hiding themselves amongst its thick foliage along with so many smaller birds. I spoke to the workmen and learnt that the lovely old holly tree, where a number of birds roost, will go tomorrow.
There is nothing I can do about it, but I feel very sad - both for the wildlife and the trees.
Some of my photos are now available to buy in a variety of sizes and finishes, or as digital files, at SerenityPhotography.co.uk.
