This month will be remembered as the recuperation from Hurricane Katrina and the hit of Hurricane Rita. Many shots of sunsets on the Mississippi River are in this gallery, nine to be exact, as well as scenes of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Your photos are wonderful. It's so sad to see hurricane damage. My family lives in Charleston, and Hugo was bad enough in '89;Katrina was so very much worse! My heart goes out to all of you trying to put everything back together with such courage and strength.
