Hurricane Irene gave us a scare but really barely grazed us. Nothing compared to the U. S. east coast where Vermont and upper New York got flooded and houses washed away in the raging streams and rivers.
Tropical Storm Lee, however, brought us many days of wind and rain. Our drought was broken. Waters were pushed in from the lakes into the swamps and wetlands giving much needed water to the area. We lost electrical power for 16 hours but that was the only inconvenience.
Our beloved Archbishop Philip Hannan died on September 29, 46 years to the day that he came to New Orleans as our Archbishop. He was 98 years old.
