Some environmentalists and fishermen are hoping that the River rises high enough to cause the opening of the Spillway locks. The River has already spilled over its banks and is up to the Spillway locks. The nutrients of the River water as well as the alluvial soil which it deposits are badly needed in the marshes and wetlands. The River water will offset the saltwater that has intruded into the marsh.
I am hoping for an opening, also.
Note the ships lined up in the River waiting for their turn to fill up at the oil refineries. No wonder our oil and gas prices are so high in the U. S.--all of it is going out of the country.
The oil and gas is drilled for and refined in Louisiana and our gas prices today are $3.20 a gallon.
If we were to put a fence across the River at this spot, the rest of the world would be in a mess.
Think about it.
