Canal Street in New Orleans

Taken out of the sun roof

For at least five days weather forecasters have been alarming everyone with a possible tropical storm or hurricane that began somewhere around Florida and moved into the Gulf. Every hour on the hour time was devoted to it. Emergency managers in all of our metro New Orleans parishes held tri-daily meetings. People in FEMA trailers were warned that they would have to evacuate (or evaporate as one elderly lady said) if winds got over 35 mph. It has been a meteorological frenzy. People are still shell-shocked from Katrina so this is enough to send them over the edge. The stores have been filled with people buying water, batteries and the usual hurricane necessities.
I am forecasting a little rain, a heavy breeze and a nice time to stay inside and eat one's self into a stupor.

Got to be a good way of taking city pics! Hope the storm didn't develop.

I agree with you Coleen. I don't think the National Huricane Center is even tracking 'Tropical Depression 10' any longer. You might want to watch for some localized flooding though.

Hope the warnings don't come to fruition -- it looks beautiful there right now

A clean N Orleans, lets hope your forecast is correct.
It will be a century before Katrina becomes a memory.

I like the composition to the right with this majestic building and then it leads to the open sky. Great shot, especially from the sunroof!! Vote.

The weather looks fabulous right now, beautiful blue sky!

LOL Eating yourself into a stupor always sounds so good but the reality of it is distinctly less pleasant! It certainly looks nice and clear now. What a bright, cheerful shot!

think the people on the right got enough batteries in that bag? Take Care!

From what I just heard on the news you are right, and I am so glad you are. Your sense of humor has saved your sanity again.

The down side of around the clock competitive coverage. Sending chocolates your way ;-)

Excellent shot Coleen. Sometimes the authorities go a bit overboard. Do you suppose it's because they want us to know they're on the job? (Particularly if they've been caught with their pants down previously...)
