For at least five days weather forecasters have been alarming everyone with a possible tropical storm or hurricane that began somewhere around Florida and moved into the Gulf. Every hour on the hour time was devoted to it. Emergency managers in all of our metro New Orleans parishes held tri-daily meetings. People in FEMA trailers were warned that they would have to evacuate (or evaporate as one elderly lady said) if winds got over 35 mph. It has been a meteorological frenzy. People are still shell-shocked from Katrina so this is enough to send them over the edge. The stores have been filled with people buying water, batteries and the usual hurricane necessities.
I am forecasting a little rain, a heavy breeze and a nice time to stay inside and eat one's self into a stupor.
