Rising River in Fog

The Mississippi River is rising and as the snow melts in the northern part of the United States the River in Louisiana, where it empties into the Gulf of Mexico, gets higher. It has already left its bounds in this photo and is creeping towards the locks of the Bonnet Carre' Spillway. Grey, chilly, foggy day.

Nice image. Love the mood. It's interesting how much of the US the Mississippi drains.

Hopefully won't flood too badly with the relatively low snowfall this year. Can only hope.

Mother Nature can not be contained.
Shie can only, sometimes, be reasoned with.
Ominous shot.

I was wondering if the cold had pushed down there again.

Nice capture. and lesson on delta formation. I can't imagine flooding every year.
